Medical Laboratory Technologist (MLT) is also referred to as a clinical laboratory technologist is a healthcare professional who performs bio-chemical, haematological, immunological, cytopathological, serological and bacteriological diagnostic analyses on body fluids such as blood, urine, sputum, stool, cerebrospinal fluid (CSF), peritoneal fluid, pericardial fluid, gastric fluid, amniotic fluid and synovial fluid, seminal fluid as well as other specimens. Medical Laboratory Scientists work in clinical laboratories at hospitals, reference labs, biotechnology labs, biochemistry labs, non-clinical industrial labs and consultant etc. Medical laboratory technologists conduct medical laboratory tests, experiments and analyses to assist in the diagnosis, treatment and prevention of disease. Technologists also assist at autopsies and examinations of surgical specimens or perform autopsies under the supervision of pathologist's.
